Dr. Giovanni Guaraldi is an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). He is the Director of the Center for Cooperation and Development at the University of Modena. Since 2000, he leads the liver and kidney transplant program for HIV-infected people at the Multivisceral Transplant Center of the Modena Polyclinic. Since 2002 he directs the Metabolic Clinic for HIV Infection. This tertiary referral center offers a multidisciplinary consultation service that includes specialists in infectious diseases, nutritionists, physical trainers, psychologists, cardiologists, nephrologists, endocrinologists and plastic surgeons for the diagnosis and treatment of non-infectious comorbidities. The Metabolic Clinic serves more than 4,500 people. He is a member of the guidelines panel on prevention and management of HIV-related comorbidities of the European Clinical AIDS Society (EACS). He has published extensively on different aspects of HIV treatment and care.
